Dr. Ann Marie Kenny-Chapur

Meet Dr. Ann Marie Kenny-Chapur

I help families navigate the special education process with clarity, confidence, and the support they deserve. With experience as a teacher, school psychologist, and special education chairperson, I bring a deep understanding of both the educational system and the challenges families face when trying to access the right services for their child. I know how schools operate, how decisions are made, and—most importantly—how to advocate effectively within that system. I hold a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from St. John’s University, along with a Master of Science in Education from Queens College and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from St. John’s University. I also hold School District Leader (SDL) and School Building Leader (SBL) certifications, as well as a Professional Certification in School Psychology. After completing my graduate training in New York, I spent over five years in Florida as a district school psychologist and special education chairperson. During that time, I also served as Vice President of the Broward County Association of School Psychologists and operated a private practice specializing in evaluations and advocacy for students and families. Since returning to New York, I have continued to support students and families through my work as a Certified School Psychologist, Chairperson for the Committee on Special Education (CSE), Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), Response to Intervention (RTI) teams, and Section 504 Committees within the schools. Outside of the school day I work as an educational advocate not a school psychologist. I understand that this process can feel overwhelming, confusing, and at times frustrating. My role is to guide you through each step, help you understand your options, and advocate for services and supports that truly meet your child’s needs—so you can move forward with confidence.
